Self Catering - Greendoor style

At Greendoor we offer self catering with a difference. We supply all the towels and beds made up - you will even find little extras from Arran Aromatics in the bathrooms. The open larder means no need to panic about arrival times and having to pack basics because everything is there. The bedrooms are cleaned daily and the open areas are cleaned regularly throughout the day. Book for when you like for however many nights you like.

Booking by person or room Stanley house is open to its guests 24 hours a day. We will greet you on check in, show you your rooms and around the building then supply you with room and front door key so you can come and go as you please for the duration of your stay. All reception areas are then open for use solely for the guests of Stanley House. Two sitting rooms, kitchen opening into dining area and conservatory, drying room and downstairs loo. Private gardens with lawns running down to the confluence of the river Esk and Whillan Beck. We like to look after breakfast - which is served between 8.00am and 9.30am. For the rest of the day and night this room is yours too.

We supply and keep stocked the Open Larder with basic food, for the rest please visit our local shops and try the Cumbrian fayre.

If booking the whole building then we let you make your own breakfast and restock the Open Larder when you tell us it running low. 

Ground Floor

Two sitting rooms both with doughy sofas. One with a TV and video and a woodburning stove, the other with TV with DVD and Playstation.
DVD and Video library and a good selection of fiction books and guides.
Large drying room and separate downstairs biffy.
The entrance hall floor is all wood or tiles so no need to stand outside removing wet/muddy clothing/boots.
Kitchen (more details below) opening into dining area and conservatory overlooking the gardens and fells at one side and steam train and fells at the other.
We can seat 70 people in here at a squash but keep the area set up for 30 generally.
This area also holds the open larder (more details below).

Open Larder

2 x large larder cupboards and 1 large fridge packed with all the basics.
This includes...

sliced bread - white and wholemeal
a selection of jams and marmalade
heinz tomato ketchup, brown sauce, mustard, vinegar, mayonaise, chutney, branston pickle, chilli oil
homeroast ham (sliced)
medium cheddar cheese
soup
eggs
heinz baked beans and spaghetti hoops
tea - builders, assorted herb and fruit, assam, lapsung suchon, etc
coffee, hot chocolate
milk
orange juice, apple juice and tomato juice
the necessary for a virgin Mary (celery salt, tabasco and Worcestor sauce)
butter, oil and olivio
fruit cordials (orange and/or blackcurrant and apple)

 

First Floor - (dog friendly)

1 x Family Suite consisting of entrance hall to - spacious bathroom straight ahead
twin or double bedroom to your right and twin or double bedroom to your left

1 x Large single or small double bedded room

1 x Standard double or twin bedded room

2 x Larger double or twin bedded rooms

Second Floor - as above but dog free

all bedrooms are ensuite with bath and shower, all have TV with DVD, free wifi access, tea and coffee making facilities, wardrobe, drawers, dressing table, bedside tables, mirrors, room to swing a cat and somewhere to sit and look out of the windows at the amazing views - fells, gardens, steam trains!

Beds are made up, towels provided and some bathroom goodies from Arran Aromatics too.
Grounds

Lawns and gardens down to the banks of the confluence of The River Esk and Whillan Beck provide a lovely area for a potter or simply picnic in the sun - the gardens are quite sheltered from wind and very private with magnificent views of the fell tops around.

Separately private parking available for at least 12 cars.
