Facilities in our Bed and Breakfast in Eskdale.

Everything you need for a relaxed stay in the heart of the Lake District.

In addition to our bedrooms, we offer everything that you need to make your stay a comfortable one.

Kick back after a tiring day on the fells and help yourself to a coffee, and relax in front of the fire. Or, for those wet or lazier days, lounge on the doughy sofas in either one of the sitting rooms; play on the Playstation, watching a DVD from our library, or just read the paper. Take full use of the free WIFI internet connectivity, or snuggle up by the wood burner and read your favourite book.

Enjoy a hearty Lakeland breakfast (or something a little lighter) in our light airy conservatory, overlooking our gardens and the confluence of the two rivers, the Esk and Whillan Beck, that bound our garden. The dining room can be used throughout the day for preparing snacks, or just to get a glass and corkscrew.

There is a drying room for the intrepid guest with wet outdoor gear, plus a rack for your boots, on the ground floor, next to what will be our Map Wall marking dozens of walks from our door, and the surrounding fells of Scafell, Great Gable, and Pillar to name but a few.

On our doorstep – literally – is Beckfoot Station; one of the seven halts for the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, a narrow gauge steam railway that travels from Boot to Ravenglass on the coast. (This in-turn links with the mainline train service to Lancaster, Carlisle and beyond making us accessible to the non-car driver.)

Enjoyable by all the family, the La’al Ratty, as it is affectionately known, offers a number of return journeys everyday (seasonal), and can easily be used as transport to the Roman town of Ravenglass and the world-renowned Muncaster Castle and Owl Trust.

Alternatively, hire a bicycle and go for a scramble on the fells, or try to ride up the daunting Hardknott Pass to the Roman Fort.
